Daily Devotional: Heaven Is Cetain

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

When it comes to heaven one question that often gets asked is this: How can I be certain I will one day get there?  That is a pretty important question because eternity is a long time and to miss out on heaven would be devastating.

Thankfully the Bible tells us how we can be certain that we will experience eternal life.  We can be certain we will experience eternal life if we simply believe in Jesus.

You see the central story of the Bible is that God created us to enjoy life with him forever.  Sadly our sin made a mess of God’s good plan but God is bent on his plan becoming our reality.  So he sent Jesus to live the life we could not live and to die the death we deserve so that we could receive the forgiveness we do not deserve.  When we believe this central story we are told that eternal life is certain and no one will snatch us out of God’s family.

So here is the question you need to answer: Do you believe in Jesus?  If so you can be certain you have eternal life.  Does this seem too good to be true?  Guess what?  Grace is too good to be true but that doesn’t mean grace isn’t true, it simply means that God is incredibly good.  So believe in Jesus today and rest knowing that your future in heaven is certain.

If you have not yet believed in Jesus but you would like to, here is a great prayer to express to Jesus your belief in him: Jesus I believe in you.  I ask you to help me to follow you as my Lord and Savior.  Thank you for taking the penalty for all my sin and rising from the grave to give me eternal life.

What are you most looking forward to about heaven?  How does embracing the certainty of heaven change your life today?
