Do you live free? Meaning do you walk through life free from shame, condemnation, and fear? I hope so. You see one of the things God wants for those who embrace Jesus is freedom. Meaning God wants you to be set free from the burden of wondering if you are good enough. He wants you to be set free from the fear that he will stop loving you. He wants you to be set free from your shame and our condemnation. He wants you to be set free from the pressure of being an imperfect person trying to please a perfect God. You see God’s message of grace isn’t a message about what you must do to please God, instead it’s the radical message that God is already pleased with you because of what Jesus did for you.
In Romans 8:1 Paul expresses our freedom in Christ like this, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
So if you look at the Bible it is clear. We have been set free. And yet how often do we spend time rehearsing failures that God has said we can forget? How often do we remember things that God has said are forgiven? How often to do cling to burdens, instead of laying them down at his feet?
So today as an act of faith, refused to allow your faults and your failures to define you. Instead let God’s love define you and let his grace lead you on. Always remember Jesus came into the world not to condemn the world, but that the world might be set free through him. God loves you and and he wants to set you free. So live free!
