Here is what I’m challenging myself to do this weekend: Rest.
Honestly, I’m pretty terrible at resting. But this weekend, I am going to give it a try.
Why? Because rest is what God invites me to do.
A weekly time of rest is a pretty great gift from God. It is a compassionate gift because it allows us to step away from our work and worship God. It is a theological gift because it reminds us of God’s ability to hold all things together while we let things go to enjoy him. It is a refreshing gift because in rest we are recharged for another week. It is an equalizing gift because it has been given to all people. And it is an enriching gift because in rest we connect with the people God has placed in our lives.
Sadly, many of us struggle to embrace the gift of rest.
So this weekend, I’m giving rest a try and I’d encourage you to do the same.
