Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. – Hebrews 13:8
Change is woven into the fabric of life. We move from playing house, to awkward dates, to finding love and giving ourselves to another person. We grow up and our bodies grow old. We transition. We move on. We try to stabilize our emotions but they surge. We try to stay in touch with friends but friends shift. We try to linger in the good seasons of life when we are healthy and financially stable only to find that like the windings of a great river, life constantly bends to make room for new scenery. Sometimes the changes are helpful. Other times they are simply painful.
In all the changing of life it is good to know that Jesus is constant. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His love is not topsy-turvy or inconsistent. His promises are not about to give way to something new. His character isn’t bent by public opinion.
Instead Jesus is constant, solid, reliable, steadfast and unchanging. As such we can cling to Jesus and find real hope in Jesus when life become topsy-turvy and we are headed for another change.
